Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated in Canada and the United States as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvestand of the preceding year. It is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious and cultural traditions and has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well.In the United States, the modern Thanksgiving holiday tradition is commonly, but not universally, traced to a sparsely documented 1621 celebration in present-day Massachusetts. The 1621 Plymouth feast and thanksgiving was prompted by a good harvest. Pilgrims and Pursitan who began emigrating from England in the 1620s and 1630s carried the tradition of Days of Fasting and Days of Thanksgiving with them to New England. Several days of Thanksgiving were held in early New England history that have been identified as the "First Thanksgiving", including Pilgrim holidays in Plymouth in 1621 and 1623, and a Puritan holiday in Boston in 1631. According to historian Jeremy Bangs, director of the Leiden American Pilgrim Museum, the Pilgrims may have been influenced by watching the annual services of Thanksgiving for the relief of the siege of Leiden in 1574, while they were staying in Leiden. Now called Oktober Feest, Leiden's autumn thanksgiving celebration in 1617 was the occasion for sectarian disturbance that appears to have accelerated the pilgrims plans to emigrate to America. In later years, religious thanksgiving services were declared by civil leaders such as Governor Bradford, who planned the colony's thanksgiving celebration and fast in 1623.The practice of holding an annual harvest festival did not become a regular affair in New England until the late 1660s.In the English tradition, days of thanksgiving and special thanksgiving religious services became important during the English Reformation in the reign of Henry VIII and in reaction to the large number of religious holidays on the Catholic calendar. Before 1536 there were 95 Church holidays, plus 52 Sundays, when people were required to attend church and forego work and sometimes pay for expensive celebrations. The 1536 reforms reduced the number of Church holidays to 27, but some Puritans wished to completely eliminate all Church holidays, including Christmas and Easter. The holidays were to be replaced by specially called Days of Fasting or Days of Thanksgiving, in response to events that the Puritans viewed as acts of special providence. Unexpected disasters or threats of judgement from on high called for Days of Fasting. Special blessings, viewed as coming from God, called for Days of Thanksgiving. For example, Days of Fasting were called on account of drought in 1611, floods in 1613, and plagues in 1604 and 1622. Days of Thanksgiving were called following the victory over the Spanish Armada in 1588 and following the deliverance of Queen Anne in 1705. An unusual annual Day of Thanksgiving began in 1606 following the failure of theGunpowder Plot in 1605 and developed into Guy Fawkes Day.

Oncologist

Oncology specialists are physicians trained in a variety of cancer diagnostic and treatment procedures, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Typical oncology specialists may have as much as 15 years of advanced education and training, which includes undergraduate studies, medical school, and one or more residency training programs. Additionally, licensure is required to practice as a physician. The American Board of Medical Specialties certifies oncology physicians in five different specialized areas, including radiation, medical, surgical and pediatric oncology. Oncology specialists collect medical histories and perform physical evaluations in addition to basic administrative duties, such as maintaining records, coordinating with other medical personnel, and managing the work of staff. They also perform a wide variety of diagnostic procedures to ascertain the condition of tissues and to detect cancer. Diagnostic procedures include scanning techniques, such as x-ray and magnetic resonance imaging, as well as surgical operations and biopsies. As physicians, oncology specialists must complete up to eight years of undergraduate and medical school education. They then train in a medical residency that can last 3-5 years depending on the specialty. Those pursing subspecialty training may also be required to complete an additional residency or fellowship of up to three years.

1. Have courage to say no
2. Have courage to face the truth.
3. Do the right thing because it is right.

These are the 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity.
- W.Clement Stone

I think that this statement is so true and its telling you the correct things to do in your life like to have courage and say no to ank of the trouble coming your way. To do the correct or right thing because its the right thing to do. Or to have courage in your life to face the truth that's coming your way. For me the truth is that best thing somebody can do even if it hurts or its hard to believe it i think the truth is that best thing ever.

"HE THAT WALKETH WITH WISE MAN SHALL BE WISE, BUT A FOOL SHALL BE DESTROYED"
- Proverbs 13:20

I think that this statement is so true because if u hang out with smart and good people then you are choosing to be good with them and are teaching you good stuff because you hang out with them. If you were to hang out with bad people that only do bad and careless stuff then you would only learn from them and what you would learn is only bad dumb things that they do all day.
VETERANS DAY

Veterans Day is an official States federal that is observed annually on November 11, honoring people who have served in the US. Armed Forces, also known as veterans. It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of World War I (major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice went into effect). The United States also originally observed Armistice Day; it then evolved into the current Veterans Day holiday in 1954.

Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who gave their lives and those who perished while in service.[1]

Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.
While both honor our military personnel, the former is a day to remember and pay respect to all the men and women that died serving our country in a war, while Veterans Day is to celebrate the soldiers who are still alive and served in the forces at any time, during peace or war.

Veterans Day shows respect for those who were willing to give their lives to the country and to serve their country. It shows that we appreciate the veterans. Veterans Day is important to me because it is a time to recognize and honor those that have served their country in the armed forces.

In the USA, Veterans Day annually falls on November 11. This day is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended the World War I hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918. Veterans are thanked for their services to the United States on Veterans Day.
Wear a red poppy or yellow ribbon to show support for veteran and active duty service members. Visit a veterans’ hospital. Chatting with elderly or injured veterans is a great way to brighten their day, plus you’re likely to hear some highly fascinating stories about their time in the service. Organize a care-package packing party. If you don’t know someone currently stationed overseas, contact a nearby base or an organization like Blue Star Moms to identify troops in need.

TO DO GOOD
"The best recreation is to do good"
- William Penn

I think that William Pen is correct because the best recreation is to do good. If you have a well respected name or a well known name that is known as a great name that is the best way for people to know that you wold be a great recreation. For example lets say that you are a very well kid always does their work and has great grades well the little brother or sister will see all the great thing the big brother does so she will try to do what he does to be good but if the brother wasn't good then he wold give his little brother/sister a bad example.

ALWAYS
"Right is right, even if everyone is against it"
- William Penn

I think this statement is so true because if you do the right thing then you are doing the correct thing even if other people don't agree or they don't like you doing the right thing. Its always right to do the coreect thing once you can help others or help yourself be doing the correct thing
